In a world shared by many races of beings, a war has erupted between the Dwarves and the creatures known as the Shadow People. The Dwarves, having driven the Shadow People from their ancestral home, forced the Shadow People to resort to violence, thus beginning The Elemental Wars. But the Shadow People overcame the Dwarven race and rose to the surface of the world, tired of living a life underground in the shadows. Their rage brought darkness upon the land, and their army moved in on the human race, angered by their alliance with the Dwarves. They took over cities rapidly, killing all who stood in their way, taking humans captive, and searching out those who escaped their grasp.

The only hope left for humanity lies in a mythical valley where light still exists. But will the surviving humans reach this valley in time to restore light to their world once more?

"See, that's the thing. You see this as a few weeks. A first kiss, only on our second real date, a new thing to try out. Yeah, you said you love me, which I believe. I do, but that doesn't change the fact that you only see this, see us, as just a few weeks old. The reality, Sebastian? We are years old. I've loved you since we were kids throwing rocks at each other by the train station, since we were 8 and i tried to drown you in the ocean because you called Leah ugly, since we were 10 making cookies with Evelyn weekly, Seb. I've been completely yours since before i even knew what loving someone was." ~ Luna James grew up in Stardew. Her entire life was there, her friends, family, future. "I'd met my match with Sebastian. He was just as much of a loner as I was-maybe even more. We were the only two members of the anti-social social club. It met every Wednesday: under the covers of Sebastian's bed." Stella's memory of Stardew Valley isn't the greatest and she swore she'd never return. But when her father wants to sell her grandfather's farm, Stella reluctantly agrees to buy it off him, afraid that her memories of the valley will disappear altogether if she lets it slip away. As she returns to Pelican Town, the gaps in her memory start to revive as she meets new faces, and reunites with old ones. Her first friend is the extroverted, blue haired Emily, who becomes Stella's key insight into the lives of her neighbors in Stardew Valley. Her first crush is the easy-going, adorably clueless skateboarder, Sam, who she runs into on her very first full day in the valley. Sam is everything Stella is not, and maybe he's what she needs-someone to counteract her melancholic, reclusive personality. But when she meets his dark haired, moody and pessimistic friend Sebastian, who is the complete opposite of Sam, she becomes enthralled with him, wanting to crack through his tough exterior to see what lies beneath. Sebastian is everything she wants, but knows she doesn't need. She knows how he is, because she is the same way. He's like a carbon copy of herself and that only intrigues her more. She knows he's like poison, but the way he makes her feel becomes like an addiction.
