Mallory grew up with a love for baseball. When her little brother enrolls at the same college as her and makes the team as a starting pitcher, she finally has a reason to attend the games.

Lucas was the star batter his freshman year of college until an injury while at bat during a game took him out for a season. Now that he has returned to the field he just can't seem to shake his fear of stepping up to the plate.

Mallory and Lucas met over summer before their junior years, but never kept in touch. Now their paths have crossed again, but can Mallory help Lucas finally take the swing?

"'Bye.' I say after Edwin's kiss. He gives me a small smile that honestly looks more like a grimace. It makes me a little uncomfortable having him kiss me in the library. Edwin walks away, and someone standing in the corner of my vision makes me turn in my seat. A tall, muscular man is standing there, his arms crossed, staring at me. He's got dark brown hair, perfect eyebrows, and soft brown eyes. Honestly, he's gorgeous. And since I've read, and edited, about five articles about him, I recognize him immediately. Dane Sawyer. He's the best pitcher on our baseball team. He's hoping to go pro, although I'm not totally sure what the process is surrounding that, since I don't retain much of the information from the articles that I read about him. I know that he's also a junior, and that his girlfriend is hot as fuck. I've seen them together on campus. They're hard to miss because they are easily one of the most attractive couples that I've ever seen. I'm convinced that I must be hallucinating, because he makes eye contact and walks towards me. 'That was awkward.'" ~~~ Junior year is starting off chaotic for Mackenzie Brooks as she steps into her role as the editor-in-chief of the college's newspaper. She's smart, focused on school, the paper, and her TA responsibilities. Junior year should be starting off easy for Dane Sawyer. He's the star pitcher of the baseball team; attractive, athletic, desirable, with a hot girlfriend. Unfortunately, he's also failing computer science which is the one thing he sees that is in the way of his pro career. Different in more ways that one, when the two run into each other in the library, it's an immediate disaster. But when Dane convinces Mackenzie to be his tutor, both of their lives begin to change.

Out of the shadows

6 parts Ongoing Mature

Bailey Sawyer was the kind of girl you didn't notice when you walked past her in the hallways, the one whose presence barely registered even if she was standing right in front of you. Her whole life, she'd been living in the shadows, blending into the background like she was meant to be part of the scenery. And of fighting it, Bailey had learned to embrace it, because she had a purpose, one that kept her going through every lonely lunch and unnoticed achievement. She wanted him to see her. Not just anyone. No, Bailey wanted him, the boy she'd watched from a distance for years, to finally look her way. To see her for who she really was. So while everyone else thought she was content to be invisible, she had been preparing for her moment. Watching. Waiting. Dreaming of the day she'd finally step into the light, not as the quiet girl from their small town, but as someone worth noticing. And now, with graduation just a week away and a plane ticket to California tucked into her bag, Bailey knew her chance was finally coming.
