One day, after the ultimate betrayal at the hands of Garrett Cassidy leaves him dying in the wilderness, Virgil awakens to find that his headaches have been replaced by mysterious magical powers, but someone, or something, else knows of his powers and tries to murder him to keep magic out of this world. After Virgil makes his way to the safety of Oregon City, Virgil turns to the mysterious Irish woman named Madame Rosalind Foster to help him understand his strange new powers and the forces that might be pursuing him. As the love between Virgil and Rosalind blossoms, the surrounding danger also grows. Will Virgil escape the mysterious evils chasing him and get a taste of interracial love forbidden to him by the society in which he lives?
