Loretta Zell has had one of those nights, she’s drunk, her heel is broken, and she can’t find her car, or her sister, or friend. Tonight was supposed to be all about fun, and getting drunk. But she soon finds herself stumbling around in a town she doesn’t know. This is where she meets Warren Braxton, a local architect. He goes out of his way to help her get new shoes, and to find her friends.
But when she wakes up on his couch the next morning not remembering where she is, or how she got there, Loretta is really confused. She finds her sister flirting with a handsome stranger standing in a beautifully decorated kitchen and Loretta feels a sudden urge of jealousy, but she doesn’t even know the guy.
Eventually she learns about her drunken night, and that Warren want’s to take her on a date. She turns him down flat, and says that she needs to be thinking about her future, not extremely charming and handsome men.
The only problem is that fate has different plans. Loretta starts feeling weird, and strange things start happening. Eventually she learns about the family secret and she knows that she has to start pushing him away harder. But Warren has his eyes set on her, and he wants to take her on a date, and in a state of weakness she agrees. They have an amazing date, and an even more amazing night. Now she’s had a taste of what life with Warren could be like and she knows she has to run.
