Reese Bishop had learned early in life that some fires start at home. She'd spent most of her life pretending the shouting wasn't loud, the slammed doors didn't rattle her bones, and that love wasn't supposed to feel like fear. But that was the thing about pretending-you could only do it for so long before the mask slipped, the act cracked, and something inside you started screaming to get out. So when her older sister, Maya Bishop, showed up at her apartment three months ago and said, "You're not staying here. Pack your bags," Reese didn't argue. She hadn't looked back since. Now, standing in front of the big red doors of Station 19, with the buzz of Seattle traffic behind her and the ghost of her old life finally starting to fade, Reese inhaled sharply. Day one. New life. New family. Same fire in her chest-but this time, it burned for something else.
