hika was molded by hands that swore by those words. an earthbender that never grew hungry enough to know what defeat tasted like. who never understood how shameful it was to return home defeated. she was not taught to turn the other cheek. she was not raised to be the bigger person. she had not known what it meant to walk away. hika could, and has been many things, but a coward would never be one of them.
the encounter with the avatar is a double-edged sword for the earthbender. uprooting everything she knew, hika holds her nose as she plunges into unknown waters and follows her gullible brother into the trap that is traveling with the avatar. a vastly expanding world that exceeds the farming village that was all the two had known is misgiving.
