After being kept inside the protective walls of the Palace of Secrets for years, the young Crown Prince of Ninjago sneaks out into the city only to meet a red clad ninja candidate. A very complicated relationship starts to build itself between them. Neither one of them is aware how significant roles they will play in each other's lives.
Together, they are thrown in the deep end as they get kidnapped by the evil forces that plot against the empire. Together, the two must survive and make their way back to Ninjago City in order to stop what ends up not only causing darkness, but also great loss, agony and hardships. Together, they must defeat the unexpected traitor and restore peace to the land of Ninjago.
