Adelaide Carlisle had always been a careful person, never taking unnecessary risks, never being overly rebellious or irresponsible. Preferring chess and cooking over motorcycles and parties. Now 22, years after her chess career crashed and burned, her wariness has only gotten worse, now not even wanting to risk the pain of a relationship. But when the things she most fears start pushing their way into her life, will she reject them, or learn to take a few more risks, and be okay with the consequences? Would she abandon everything she'd ever told herself about love for a cocky chess prodigy with a cowboy hat and carefree charm? Or will she build her walls higher than before and choose safety instead? ---------------------------------------------------- !CW! Winning that gold medal meant everything to her and when she finally got there and choked, her life was turned upside down. What do you do when everything you've worked for your whole life is gone and you instantly go from being America's Sweetheart to a laughing stock? Well I can tell you what Rachel did. She ran. She moved to Texas, changed her hair color, started going by her middle name and tried to forget she ever did figure skating. When she finally went back to her hometown three years later to visit her family, she ran into her old figure skating coach and he convinced her that she could have a second chance to make her dream of Olympic gold happen. Falling in love with the new hockey coach wasn't part of the plan. Making her comeback ended up being a lot harder than she thought it would be, especially when family turmoil, anxiety, tragedy and love get in the way, but maybe a second chance and someone to believe in her is all she needs to make it happen. **** Very mature themes & sexual content - 18+ only!Complete
