“Georgia Matthis.” I stood up, my legs shaking. As I went up to the authorities, I felt like time was spinning. My heart was thumping out of my chest, my hands shaking as I shook hands with the intendants. I breathed in deeply and took one last look at the old me in the reflection of the metallic floors. I stared until the weight of my hair had been lifted and my golden locks were falling around my feet. I struggled to keep my composure as the cold hand of the intendant moved my remaining hair off my shoulder.
