Cold War, 1989 The Soviet Union is on the verge of collapse, but there are some in the old guard that are unwilling to let go of the past. Major Natalya Alexeyeva is a war veteran of Soviet Russia's Military Intelligence Directorate Special Forces, questioning her very existence following a brutal experience in Afghanistan. After another self-destructive episode, she is called upon by her superiors for an important mission to do what she does best. Donald Weaver is just a bright-eyed rookie analyst with the Central Intelligence Agency looking forward to his new career. Instead, he's about to find out that he is in over his head when new developments emerge from Eastern Europe that could spell World War Three. Her job is preserve her country, no matter the cost, and his is to uncover a deadly conspiracy that threatens an already unstable balance of power. It's a race against time between a CIA analyst and a GRU operative in a mission that would ultimately shape the post-Cold War world.

Natalya Morozova, a young seamstress from Moscow, finds herself tangled in her husband's illicit activities and is suddenly thrust into the GULAG prison system, where deceit lies around every corner. Will she prove worthy of mastering it? Or will her own crimes finally catch up to her ad plunge her even further into despair.
