Everyone is preparing for the transit to level four: Mars. Humanity treats each planet in the Solar System as different levels to escape the increasing heat of the sun by going to the next furthest planet. The story follows Lana and Clara, seniors, and partners in crime, at The Institution who are being tested to prove their worth for transit to Mars. Lana, an only child and daughter of single mother Alicia comes from the lowest social class but has genius level intelligence and has the potential to be the first Relicta generation to graduate the institute on either planets and qualify for transit. Clara, less spectacular, is a daughter of a high ranking space pilot/ commander and is almost guaranteed to get on If found out to be together, Lana and Clara risk being left behind, or worse, separated forever on different planets due to their forbidden love. Those deemed not worthy are left behind and are studied by the scientists on the next level on the impacts of increased radiation and the girls have more eyes on them than they would have ever thought

With her almost 20 year marriage beyond repair, Demi Meadows is sick of playing games and being taken for granted. She needs something real, and someone who truly loves her instead of cheating on her for years. Her kids are almost out of the house, so it would be a perfect time to find a person to share her life with, and this time she isn't going to settle for anything less than the perfect person and the perfect love. But could that person be someone that she would never expect, like a one night stand that turns into a frequent visitor? Or is it too risky to go after someone who could rip her heart in two because of the different places they are in life and the similarities to her ex? What if perfect is an illusion? What if finding a perfect love is an illusion, because sometimes you can make your own perfect?
