This book is a modern translation of the 19th-century historical novel written by Henryk Sienkiewicz. 
Even though it is an old book written in the archaic language, it is not easy to put down. Some people read it several times, and I'm one of them. Its language may be aged, but the message is always current. Good always defeats evil. 
Sienkiewicz, who also wrote Quo Vadis, tells a classic tale of heroic knights, chivalric love, faith, honor, love, and duty. He also depicts historic battles of medieval Eastern Europe. The author wrote it using old Polish language, words, names, and even grammar that make it challenging to translate. I hope that this work will bring you closer to an understanding of medieval Poland and the entire region.
