With their kingdom is falling apart and in debt, Prince Roman and Prince Remus head out to the Dark Forest with hope that they will find the Heart of Life. With the Heart, they would be able to save their kingdoms crops and pull the kingdom out of the dark days. However, within a few days of traveling through the forest, they are attacked and lost in the forest, with only a servant and knight for company.
Mal, a dragon witch, lives in the forest with her two sons, Janus and Virgil. Though the three are powerful, Mal made enemies with the fae who have ever since been trying to kidnap Janus for revenge. Luckily, or maybe unfortunately, they ignore Virgil for the most part since he was adopted.
When they cross paths with the humans, things get a bit... messy.

Janus 'Deceit' Sanders and Remus 'Duke' Sanders have been bestfriends since the split, though Janus acted as the responsible, adult one despite being the same age. Of course, Logan being crown prince didn't believe in this silly nonsense his father told the villagers about this dragon. He just loved learning about his kingdom through history books and art. Logan was wandering the village with some of his guards when he heard the commotion, he went and saw someone about to cut off a woodland creatures antlers, the poor creature who was about to be beaten and sent to his father to be imprisoned, was innocent! All he wanted was to know the villagers! He later revealed his name was Patton. Was all the rumors about his village being magical real? Logan was prepared to find out.

He sees what should have been an easy meal, some berries on a tree hanging over the river. It should have been easy to get it, of course the stupid branch had to break and he was sent plummeting into the river. Roman loves to sneak away from his colony and his fae duties to head to the river, he's always wondered what is on the other side of it. Of course, he and everyone else in his colony is banned from crossing it. One day though, a stranger with no wings and a tail washes up on the river bank. When he takes him back to the colony, he's put in charge of taking care of him. Thomas has inherited his home from family, it's in the middle of nowhere in a forest. It was nice, and not too far from his home is a nice river he can explore. Of course it can't be so simple though, since Thomas is in debt and could very well lose the home. Not wanting to lose a home that had been in his family for so long, he struggles to find some way to pay it off.
