Things couldn't be better for Poppy Summers and Branch Hawthorne, who had been happily dating for just over a year and were both now famous stars, as well as their love story giving them the title, " The Star-crossed Lovers of Los Angeles". 

But when they are challenged to a series of sing-off contests by some old music rivals of Poppy's, their relationship starts to crumble as they quickly learn they still have different viewpoints on what they really want in their lives. Poppy was starting to get swept up in the competition, determined in remaining on top of the world, while Branch wants to settle down for a while, not feeling real joy in proving that he was better than other really talented artists. 

However, they soon learn that the sing-offs aren't the only things they need to worry about. The main competitor has ulterior motives to the challenge, while someone else in the shadows of the backstage wants revenge against both of the star-crossed pop stars. Will Poppy and Branch rise up together once more to shine on stage, or will everything crash and burn?
