In a society split between humans, your average day person, and creatures called "Quadrants", humans who have their DNA mixed with nature, stretching between angler fish to centipede to coyote, Kwared, a delinquent who has everyone out to hurt him, and Phandrin, a approachable boy who is friends with everyone, are going to have to build a relationship that only seemed to create issues. Soulmate bonds are a touchy subject, Kwared's dark secret with his experience rivals him to despise the entire ordeal. Phandrin on the other hand, has wished to have a soulmate forever, his friends already having theirs. Kwared's distaste only grew, clutching to the life he was committed to due to living so close to the edge. Phandrin didn't expect his soulmate to be so absolutely disheveled, but he was determined, and soon determination will pay off.
