In a society split between humans, your average day person, and creatures called "Quadrants", humans who have their DNA mixed with nature, stretching between angler fish to centipede to coyote, Kwared, a delinquent who has everyone out to hurt him, and Phandrin, a approachable boy who is friends with everyone, are going to have to build a relationship that only seemed to create issues. Soulmate bonds are a touchy subject, Kwared's dark secret with his experience rivals him to despise the entire ordeal. Phandrin on the other hand, has wished to have a soulmate forever, his friends already having theirs. Kwared's distaste only grew, clutching to the life he was committed to due to living so close to the edge.
