The world marches ever closer to darkness.
After undertaking the Trails of Blood, Saidy must now reemerge into the Northern Realm of Tallenhiem and face the consequences of her actions if she ever hopes to see her brother again. Yrden now controls the Black Heart and intends to rid the world of life and create his undead utopia while Casteil and the oni march from Le'Dria to take the world as their own.
However, none are prepared for what is to come as unseen forces move in the shadows, pushing Saidy, Casteil, and Yrden into a fate that has come to pass many times before. Can Saidy stop Yrden from slaughtering the world? Will Casteil reclaim Saidy and undo the tarnish she has brought to their race?
