I hated snakes. Let me make that clear. They are cursed devil-creatures, doomed to a life of misery sliding on their bellies and eating dirt. Imagine my fear when I was bitten by a poisonous one. I'm not going to say that things were fine, because they weren't. I was in pain, I got sick, I became more afraid of snakes than I've ever been. But something else happened. And if my fear of snakes was as real as I thought it was... I should have been mortified of my own self.

Hi, I'm Shawn, and I am, without question, the unluckiest creature to ever exist. Don't believe me? Well, let me tell you the story about how I was turned to the Dark Side, where, coincidentally, they don't have cookies. After being stood up on a blind date, I was attacked in the park, bitten, buried in a shallow grave, and left for dead. My epically crappy night didn't end there though. Oh no. That would never do for the lack of luck I have. Instead of my story ending with my murder and discarded body for the wildlife to dine on, I crawled out of the grave and found myself on the lazy jerk's doorstep. Now, my story should end there. But it doesn't. That's where I met the Devil incarnate, not the jerk that bit, buried, and left me for dead. No. He was so much worse. That is where I met the vampire that would damn me for all eternity to be by his side even though he can't stand being in the same room as me for more than five minutes. Funny how that works. Now, the mundane existence I once knew is no more and I've been reborn into a new, colorful world of magic and blood, mythical creatures I never thought existed, and ghosts that won't leave me alone... I suppose, as with all great stories, the end is really where you need to begin.
