At sixteen, everyone is to meet their spirit animal. Everyone knew it, it had been that way since the very beginning. In fact, it was why some people were chosen to lead or not. Animals of feather are more pristine than others, with more abilities than any other animal. They were held at the highest stature, and were seen as most fit to lead. Animals of fur have the most heart or cunning in some cases. They are used to do physical work, such as build or fight, or own businesses. Animals of cold blood are said to have spiritual powers, such as telekinesis or telepathy. They tend to sit next to or help many people lead, and have done so for millennia. Then, there are unfortunate people who have no animal, or are animals of mite. They are seen as scum, and typically are homeless and do farm work. Eliza has grown up with people with no animal, as it ran in her family. She would be expected to have no animal too, and take whatever punishments or cruelties posed on them by the royal class. That was what she had expected and prepared for, having already dealt with Prince Henry and living with a scar. That was until, on her sixteenth birthday, the ceremony begins.
