Living as a part of the adoption system messes with your emotions, you never know what your new family is going to be like.

But with Wilbur, he didn't let it mess with him, as soon as he entered his new home, he was prepared to be kicked out, shoved away or discarded, just like his past 15 homes had done.

He hated touching things, he hated things touching him. He didn't like specific textures at all, and with two other children in the house, he assumed getting away from that would be hard.
And just like touching, he didn't like emotions too well either, aswell as feeling out of control.
