Lena and Cole have been in and out of foster homes their whole life. Their parents died when they were born, and sent to live with their grandmother- who died not soon after. They've never had any family, or anyone to actually love and take care of them. It's been them against the world. Until now. Their older brother, who hasn't even seen them once in their life, suddenly pops up, wanting to take them in. After seventeen years of being apart, why is he just now taking them in? Micheal gives them a home in Yester Town; a scary, and just plan out creepy place to be- let alone live. They both meet some great friends. And great enemies. They just try to adjust to their new lives, until Lena finds a note. What does it mean? What will it lead to? Who left it behind? Are people in this town keeping secrets? What is going on in Yester Town?

Helen's parents demand that she marry the man they've chosen for her or be disowned. She chooses to be disowned. But that isn't good enough for them. They make sure that she either doesn't get jobs or they make sure that she gets fired from them. She loses her apartment and all her things do to them. They are sure that she'll give in and marry the man they've chosen rather than live on the streets. But then again, they've never really paid much attention to their daughter unless they wanted something from her. Helen would rather live on the streets and eat out of garbage dumpsters then return to her parents and marry the man that would make her life a living hell. At least on the streets she's free. She might starve or freeze to death but she'll be free. Then one day three men come after her, intent on forcing her and beating her for what little she has. Before one of them does more than grab her arm the three are gone. Helen looks down and finds them on the ground with their hearts torn out of the bodies. She looks at the person that did that in horror but then her sight goes black.
