Rose is a Six. She's a maid for an impossibly wealthy family. She longs for more, but knows she can never have it. But when Princess Auraline, the crown princess of Illéa, announces her Selection will have 35 girls instead of men and Rose's girlfriend decides to apply, Rose's life changes forever. She decides to apply for The Selection as well, out of spite. But she never dreamed they would both be chosen. 

Now she is being whisked off to the beautiful palace, alongside her ex. Rose is determined to enjoy the luxuries of the palace until Princess Auraline kicks her out. But as Rose becomes more involved in The Selection, she realizes leaving may not be what she wants. At least not before she figures out if she's still in love with her ex, or what her feelings about Auraline mean.
