Not Your Ordinary Alien Story
Aliens have been here before... one was left behind. Eighteen-year- old Zoe must find him and she doesn't have much time. Along with the alien, a beacon was left on Earth which when activated, opens a portal through which the aliens will return. The extraterrestrials visit Earth to usurp Qi, Earth's vital energy. If the extraterrestrials go too long without Qi, people on the alien planet will die. However, when Qi is extracted from Earth, the weak and elderly of Earth will die. The beacon can only be activated by the alien who was left here and only when the planets are in a particular alignment. The next time is only two months away during the Autumnal Equinox. When Zoe discovers who the alien is, it's a complete game changer because the alien is closer to her than she ever could have imagined. The story takes place in a small town surrounded by forest near the Oregon-California border. Of course it does, after all, the highest concentration of Qi is found in forests where ancient redwoods grow. You might be wondering, what is Qi? In Japan it is called "ki," and in India, "prana"." The ancient Egyptians referred to it as "ka," and the ancient Greeks as "pneuma." In Africa, it's known as "ashe" and in Hawaii as "mana." Qi, Prana, Ki, call it what you will, this energy is the life force itself.Complete

I'd just been living in the Philippines and found something magical and beautiful there. Most of the names of people and locations originate from Filipino words in the Tagalog language. For example, Mahingga, the name of the of the island where the story starts, means "rest" in Tagalog. I wanted to the story to be funny and adventurous with a sense of wonder. I was awakened by a buzz, but I don't want to get up, instead I lay still on my bed and about to dream again when I heard a THUD, I flinched at the sound. It's Saturday so I'm not expecting anyone at this early in the morning. I'm not a morning person, I am now annoyed to whoever it is. "Coming!" I yelled and started walking which took me sometime because I literally took my time, don't blame me I'm still sleepy, I opened the door to see a very beautiful woman, she has long wavy hair, thick eyelashes and pink pout lips and lastly... a body to die for. I frowned when I realized a high-school student? I can say because she's wearing a uniform. What is a beautiful high-school girl doing here knocking at my door? I asked mentally. I asked her curiously. She looked at me and smiled, a smile that can make men drool, but I'm not because I'm still annoyed. "I am your girlfriend" she said sweetly, my eyes widened in shock, I know I'm drunk last night but I don't remember having a girlfriend.
