When the woman presents him a silver dragon egg and it hatches Kumaglak becomes one of the legendary warriors who swore to protect Erdas, and know Kumaglak must take up the mantel with two other kids from Erdas. Kaya is a six year old from Arctica and younger twin sister to her older twin brother Korren, and future chief of Arctica. Kaya has always stayed in the shadows not wanting to be seen as Korren's little sister. She wanted to be something more. She wanted to be a Dragon Rider after she heard the stories about them from some traders from Eura, who come to Arctica to trade with the villages. Kaya's prayers to Suka the Polar Bear, one of the fifteen Great Beasts, are answered when a woman claiming to be Dragon Rider comes to their village. When Kaya touches a dark purple dragon egg and it hatches Kaya becomes one of the legendary Dragon Riders. Nimue is a non important six year old from Oceanus. And why does she keep having visions of nothing but pitch blackness? Did something happen to her niece? And what will happen when a bully Skywing keeps making her doubt that being a hybrid is somehow wrong? Will Spirit be able to recover her regular self or will she give up and become a doormat? And how will a secret admirer come into play? Especially when Spirit begins to get more visions of strange giant creatures deep within the ocean.
