When my mother was alive, magic was the only string that kept her and I together. The silly card tricks, even pulling a rabbit out of the hat. It all connected me to her, pulling me into a seemingly better reality than where I was. But in the blink of an eye, she was gone. That string snapped. Magic was only real if you believed, and at that point, it was just a game to me. All it did was provide false hope.
I forced myself to keep performing for her, deceive others into thinking that what they saw was real. Seeing magic fill others with joy made me question; why. Why would seeing something impossible make someone so happy?
Because seeing is believing. And the closer you look, the less you'll see.

Nice to meet you after all these years. You've grown so well. You look like a lot like your your mother. I smiled, getting a little uncomfortable with the comparison to my mother. "I see. I'm glad to give you company". "Thank you dear. It has been 10 years since I got Alzheimer and your mother just left me here. You sound kinder than her". I choked on my coffee hearing what she said, "What do you mean my mother?", I asked shockingly, not caring about respect for that second. "Yes, she used to visit me everyday when you were born. Huh! Sweet old times! Unfortunately, it has been 2 years". She seemed serious, more like disappointed, the real disappointment that one could not fake. I was about to blame her fuzzy logic on her alzheimer but she startled me with just a photo on her phone. A mid aged lady wearing a red dress that revealed most of her neck with her smiling widely, both of them holding champagne, looking like they were about to pass out. I scrunched up my mind a little and tried remembering my mom's face . The last time I checked, my mother didn't have a twin. I kind of grabbed the phone from her and rechecked the photo to only notice that it was taken exactly 2 years ago. I was shocked and tried to put things together but failed miserably. "But my parent's death were 5 years ago. How can my mother still be alive?" A story where a 19 year old girl, Chasey goes on an "uncalled for" adventure to find the last puzzle piece she craved for, all her life. Is she desperate? Yes. Will people show the same interest as her in finding their own unique mystery, investing their time and money? No. Why did she chose to? especially when it's not do or die. Because it was a need for her not a want. Word count - approx 28000

Five Star Reviews for Atlantis Academy: "Omg this book was amazing I couldn't put it down or stop reading. I carried it with me open on my phone while I did everything just to keep reading. I need more of all of this. Epic story, epic content, epic visuals, just epic. LOVE THIS!" "Once I got into this story, I did not stop reading it. This is a beautiful story about a very awkward girl who is riven with so much pain and angst and yet... this makes her who she is and shapes her into the person she will become. The world she finds herself awakened to is magical and yet filled with the all-too-familiar cliques and tribes of the very human people who inhabit it. One word to describe the story: beautiful!" "The story pulls you headlong to the end and leaves you wanting to shout "No! Not yet!" ...If there were 6 stars, I would have given it that." *** Humanity is one secret society away from extinction. The children of Atlantis use magic to keep us safe. If they make it through the Academy. Hi, I'm Lyric. And I'm kind of a mess. ADHD, that's me. I'm a high school drop-out, late everywhere I go, and one screw-up away from being homeless. I'm a loner, and I like it that way. Who needs friends when you have a Redwood forest nearby? Trees never bully me like the kids did at school. Or get drunk and throw things at my head. After my mom died, I figured life couldn't get much worse. I thought it might even get better. Ha. The universe has a great sense of humor. I should've listened to the rumors about evil spirits. About the angry, ancient magical creatures haunting our small Oregon Coast town. But did I? No. That was my first mistake. And it might be my last. 'Cause now I'm in a battle for my life. A whole new world has opened up... a magical world I don't understand. And the blood in my veins says I belong here. But I have to prove myself to save myself. And when have I ever done that?

When you're a princess this type of idea could be possible but not in my case. At times I want to be able to get away from all of the responsibility and have an adventure, meet someone new, fall in love. But with a stern father, a stuck in the middle mother, crazy sisters and a captain of the guard that wont leave me alone, how can I accomplish my dreams. So what do I do? I do what I what I always do. I escape the castle walls and go to my private little spot in the forest. Only this time its different.......I meet someone who turns my whole world upside down, my beloved. In the Kingdom of Quisqueya ... what could possibly go wrong?
