A short story that I came up with on the fly for the #500WED Writing challenge. Here's Day 20's writing prompt: Fantasy fiction has always been around, but there is no doubt there is a massive upsurge in interest thanks to the renaissance of young adult fiction (Hunger Games, anyone? Or Harry Potter?) and the renewed interest in classics such as Lord of the Rings thanks to movies. One element most fantasy stories feature is the fantastical mythical creature. Witches, werewolves, unicorns, dragons, and (of course) vampires are crazy popular these days, and works featuring those creatures are flying off the shelves. Today I'd like you to write a (very) short 500 word story that features a mythical creature. This might feel awkward if you're a business writer, but I strongly encourage you to give it a go. We're nearly 3 weeks in, and this is yet another great way to stretch your creative writing muscles. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

All I wanted was to help. I didn't expect to discover a world of non-humans. I have enough to juggle between going through medical school and work to pay for my tiny apartment. But when Ruby, a young pregnant woman is in need of help, I decide that one more thing can't hurt, right? I guess the answer is yes when it ends up with me trapped in the centaur world with a one year old and an electric fox that could stab me in the back at any moment... again. It doesn't help that I don't know the language and they're on the lookout for me. My goal is to make it home or to the child's father. But they're centaurs, unicorns, and pegasus after me. I know I can't outrun them but I can make it through this world without getting trampled, right? ("Into the Centaur World" takes place in the same universe as "Tèarmann Chronicles")
