Jacey Nara is as ordinary as they come. Nothing overly special, nothing overly dull, but easily overlooked. Being in the foster system along with thousands of other society rejects isn't doing her any favours either. Especially when all she wants in the world is a place to belong, maybe even a place where she stands out.
All too soon Jacey learns that fate has a way of making your wishes come true when she is abducted by a very sexy, albeit somewhat unstable young man by the name of Kade who delivers her to a town in the middle of nowhere. And boy do these people take notice of her - the human, as they like to refer to her.
But far from being elated at receiving the attention she has been craving for most of her life, Jacey finds herself begging to be returned to her mundane existence, far away from the crazy people Kade has brought her to spouting nonsense about werewolves and vampires. And as Jacey is unwillingly thrown even deeper into the world of the paranormal, she discovers that not everyone plays as nicely as Kade.
