Once a teenager reaches the age of 15, they are given a permanent mark that determines their future. There are only 2 known symbols, a deer (symbolizes a gifted and talented human with a worthy and promising future), and a monarch butterfly (symbolizes an unimportant and unwanted human with an unworthy future). But when Skylar wakes up with a majestic unicorn on her left wrist, she begins to realize just how unique she is. Not to mention she got her mark when she was only 13! She's determined to cover it up and keep it a secret, but that quickly deems harder than expected. Skylar must figure out the strong message the unicorn holds and just how to reach the potential for which she was chosen for.
