Asteria Salvatore was the padawon of Master Mace Windu before the clone wars begun. After the battle of Genosis she was knighted by the jedi council

During a mission on Naboo Ashoka Tano was badly injured resulting in her healing at the Jedi temple for a long period of time. As the 501'st was a Jedi short, the council sends Asteria to fill in for commander Tano in the mean time. 

Captain Rex never planned on being devoted to anything other than the republic, but under command of the Jedi knight Asteria Salvatore, he now believes in the saying "love at first sight" 

Rex and Asteria know it's wrong, Jedi are not supposed to have attachments as the clones have one purpose in life to serve and die for the galactic war.
