His eyes immediately shot to the tip of the gun pointed at his forehead, panic immediately taking over as he scrambled back, his shell hitting the rock behind him, trapping him. The girl's e/c eyes squint at him, keeping her cool to cover the fact that she's panicking like hell on the inside. What the hell was this creature? It wasn't anything like she had ever seen.

"W-Wait! Please, don't shoot!" He begged, shielding himself from the gun. She cocks an eyebrow and slowly lowers her hunting gun a little, now taking a better look at him.

"Who are you?" She asks, her head slightly tilting to the side. 

He slowly lowers his arms, and she gets a good look at his features. He looked like some kind of turtle/human hybrid. She then looked at his face, the royal blue mask perfectly complimented his ocean blue eyes that she found herself getting lost in. He says something but she doesn't quite hear it, she shakes her head and looks back up at him.

"I-I'm sorry, could you repeat that?" She asks, a little embarrassed for not paying attention, earning a small chuckle from him. The tension easing just a little.

"My name is Hamato Leonardo, Leo for short," he flashes a charming smile, and her eyes widen a fraction.

"C-Captain?" She stutters out.

His ocean eyes widen a fraction and then flash with recognition. But, before he can say a word, a new voice cuts in.

"Drop the gun before I put a hole through your own head."

Her head shoots up and her eyes catch electric green eyes.

Cold Fire Rising by JoannaCapello

This story is a rewrite of a fanfic I wrote in 1998, popular in the TMNT fandom. I have been getting emails from strangers asking me for "Cold Fire" or to write a new story in the same world, a world in which Michelangelo gains telekinetic and telepathic powers via alien technology but at a nearly fatal price. Angst, Tragedy, and Hurt/Comfort were my Tropes to play with. Mikey got hurt a lot. But being psionic helps delay death, you know? Now I get to play with the 2012 reboot from Nick. Despite my skepticism, it really grew on me. Mikey has freckles! And huge bright blue eyes! And he's the comedic prankster with secret brilliant intelligence, the loud silly annoying weird hedonist with ADHD and natural ninja skills who could be the most powerful martial artist if he'd concentrate his potential. It irritated me at first when April O'Neil was brought in as a hybrid teen human with Kraang DNA and psychic powers. But once it was established that in Dimension X, Michelangelo was very powerful, I realized that potentially, Mikey could also have Kraang DNA, which is why he is able to navigate Dimension X as if it were his natural state. "Hey, in crazy backwards land, crazy backwards dude is king." And it does make me wonder if the writers will actually touch upon that. If Mikey really has Utrom DNA, and if it is activated, would he be potentially psychic? I'm not waiting to find out. This story takes place in the middle of Season 4. But I imagine they could take a break for a few months to deal with... um... this. It's technically an AU since I ignore and expand the canon six months. Warnings for gore, violence, language, descriptions of medical procedures. Hallucinations and creepy nightmares abound. I get very rough with Mikey and his brain.)
