Anne Evans to młoda kobieta, znana w mieście jako dobry prawnik. Pewnego dnia dostaje propozycję przyjęcia pewnej sprawy, która może być dla niej naprawdę sporą szansą.
Jej zadanie polegałoby na wybronieniu w sądzie mężczyzny, Zayna Walkera, oskarżonego o morderstwo. Z racji, iż podejrzany był wcześniej powiązany z narkotykami, nielegalnym handlem czy bójkami, nie jest to proste zadanie. Szczególnie, że mężczyzna wcale nie jest skory do rozmów, czy ugody. Ostatecznie jednak kobieta pomimo wielu przeciwwskazań się zgadza. Nie wie jednak w jaką sieć problemów się wplątuje i jakie niebezpieczeństwo jej grozi. W końcu ludzie, który chcą, aby oskarżony trafił za kratki, skutecznie będą chcieli się pozbyć jego obrońcy.
Czyżby role miały się odwrócić i to ostatecznie Walker będzie musiał bronić jej?
