He dropped his backpack onto the floor with a loud thud, I tried to hold back my flinch but failed. "Sorry" He whispered. He held his hand out, "I'm Eli, so you're the new girl." I looked at his outstretched hand but didn't grab it. When I brought my gaze to his, our eyes instantly locked. The whole room fell apart and I couldn't look away. And honestly I wasn't sure I wanted to. Everything fell quiet and the ache in my back seemed to disappear. It was like we were transported to a place where only we could reach. It was peaceful here, safe. The safest i've ever felt.
