It would be so easy for him to shove my begging back into my face and tell that world who their precious Adelaide St James really is, and with the way I spoke to him the other day, I wouldn't be surprised.
"You do really well in your classes," he spoke suddenly, "you ace every test you do."
I frowned in confusion, "Yeah, I need a B average to stay in school."
He nodded in acknowledgment, looking back at the building in front of him before finally turning to face me.
"I'll keep your secret, James," he began, "on one condition."

"Why do you care?" he asks. But it's not soft. It's sharp, defensive, like he's already bracing for the answer. I want to tell him the truth. Because you saved me.
