The Maze trial's a success. But the scorch won't be going anywhere. Cranks fill the endless sea of sand, cities turned to ruin, more and more people becoming infected. The world is ending.
Lara has been running from W.C.K.D her whole life, at least the life she can remember since the Maze Trials. After escaping from her Maze she was taken to a secure facility under the leadership of Assistant Director Janson. Soon finding out that she'd never escaped W.C.K.D and never will.
Now Lara is out in the scorch, fighting Cranks, surviving the extreme weather and blazing heat when she runs into a group of people headed to the mountains...
