"So ... do you ever go out with co-workers?" I hear somebody ask, "I um...make it a rule not to." I reply still not looking up, "Then I am so glad that I don't work here." He flirts, "Are you hitting on me? In a hospital?" I ask laughing, "Well, maybe if you looked up from whatever it is your doing you'd see that I am." His voice sounded too familiar to me, "Well I guess I can't say no to tha-" I stopped talking once I saw who I had been talking to. "Lin?" He asked staring at me with a look that I couldn't read on his face. "No. No way." I say standing up and walking away, "Wait Lin please, can we just talk?" He asked louder than before trying to catch up with me, I turned around and looked him dead in the eye, "No Mark, we can't. Because I have a job to do, I have places to be and patients to see, just like you did, so if you would please piss off back to wherever the hell you came from, that'd be great." I told him smiling sickly-sweetly, turning away before he could see the tears starting to form. But if she knew where she would be in just a few months, she would regret that decision... He always was her knight in shining armour after all.
