Toma Shinjo wasn't dumb. Quite the opposite in fact. Straight A's for the past 5 years and counting, G̶o̶d̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶b̶i̶d̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶ ̶i̶f̶ ̶h̶e̶ ̶g̶o̶t̶ ̶a̶ ̶B̶.̶

Abuse was something he came to understand based on his role in the subject. When Maki came out to him about how he was afraid to be left alone in his house in fear of getting shaken down by his father for money.

He stepped in and did what he thought was the best.

So he was somewhat of a pro at this kind of stuff.

Sure his father's barely home.
Sure his own mother hates him, and makes that clear.
Sure his house is always silent and cold when he comes back from school.

But that didn't matter,
For it is not abuse.

And Toma was happy that was the case.
