The Walking Dead
The year is 1881, and five years have passed since the events of the SOMETHING STRANGE & DEADLY series. Eleanor Fitt and the Spirit-Hunters are comfortable (and perhaps a bit complacent) as professors at the Sheridan Institute, a place for students both strange and necromantic. Yes, some of Eleanor's students (namely the troublemaker Tristan Lang) seem determined to annoy her at all turns, and yes, she does sometimes find the scholarly life a bit stifling, but it's better to teach her young charges about magic and the walking Dead within the safety of the school grounds rather than subject them to firsthand corpse exposure. But when Eleanor's former demon, Oliver, arrives with news about a secret society called The Luminaries, Eleanor and the Spirit-Hunters must decide if "firsthand corpse exposure" isn't exactly what their students need after all. Especially since these Luminaries and their creatures of darkness want something hidden within the Sheridan Institute...

“So, what are you doing this weekend?” Maggie asked me. “Oh, nothing much,” I replied. Just working as an indentured servant and hunting demons while possessed by a ghost. No big deal, right? Lynnette Cromwell gets thrown into the supernatural world when her sister goes missing and she finds out her cousin Pat hunts demons for a living. When Pat disappears next, Lynnette gets desperate and seeks help from the oldest demon-hunting company in the U.S. Since she can’t afford to pay for their help, she makes a deal to work for them instead, but the contract is vague and the president of the company is reluctant to give any details. To Lynnette’s surprise and displeasure, she finds herself partnered with Nakoma, a centuries-old ghost whose aloof attitude masks a mysterious past—one that she’ll need to share if they’re ever to solve a case of recent supernatural murders spanning the continent. Lynnette’s only hope to survive as a hunter is to trust the ghost, but the longer she stays in the world of vampires, daemons, elves, and demons, nothing seems as it should, and the matter of who is good and who is evil becomes lost in a haze of magic and darkness. Book 1 of the Dance with Darkness series. Updates every-other weekend.
