The year is 1881, and five years have passed since the events of the SOMETHING STRANGE & DEADLY series. Eleanor Fitt and the Spirit-Hunters are comfortable (and perhaps a bit complacent) as professors at the Sheridan Institute, a place for students both strange and necromantic. You wake up as a vampire. What's your next move? Stripped of her memory and cursed with a terrifying new thirst, Eleanor is taken in by William Bloom. At Bloom Manor, she finds a coven of predators bound by rules that keep their kind hidden... and each other in check. But something is wrong. Vampires are vanishing. Old powers are stirring. And Eleanor begins to suspect her transformation was not chance-but design. Someone wanted her changed. Someone wanted her to meet him. To survive, Eleanor must master the hunger inside her... or lose herself to it. ********************************* "I don't think you want him," he said. "You don't?" she whispered. "No." His breath brushed her ear. "It's me you want."
