High-School DxD: Ashes of Eden
11 parts Ongoing MatureA throne loomed in silence, its jagged frame half-swallowed by the suffocating shroud of darkness that hung like a veil over the chamber. The figure seated upon it was barely discernible- a silhouette against the faint flicker of dying light in the distance. The air was heavy, oppressive, as though the room itself was holding its breath, waiting..... for him to decide...
(???): "Hmmm, my father once told me that my motives should reflect my actions.... That a just man must have pure motivations, lest he fall from grace."
His head rested lazily against the back of the throne, one arm draped over its edge, the other propped under his chin in a gesture of casual disinterest. The faint outline of wings, fractured and dim, extended behind him, their once-pristine light corrupted into faint, uneven wisps.... Yet the bright white tips contrasted the darkness.... A faint glow of purity....
(???): "Would you be "happier" had I a "good reason?" If my motives met with your approval, would you no longer resent the outcome? (Sigh) No matter, I am loathe to expend effort on the unworthy..... Come, earn the honor....."
He stirred. Slowly, languidly, his fingers tapped the armrest, sending a faint echo into the void. His posture spoke of detachment, of boredom, but the air grew colder as his unseen gaze swept the emptiness before him. There was no sound, save for the subtle creak of the throne as he leaned forward, the faint glow of his eyes piercing through the veil of shadow for the briefest moment- golden, and unrelenting.
(???): "The Ashes of Eden have yet to settle.... Yet it was obvious how it would all end......"
(Just your average High-School Dxd Fanfic! I haven't done one in a long while.... This is gonna be fun.)
