Isabel is found outside the walls at age 14. While trying to adapt to her new society, Jeanine takes a liking into her. Jeanine made sure she would be placed in Eridute and worked with Izzy to try and pry information out of her. Jeanine and Izzy worked closely for years trying to uncover what could of caused Izzy's memory loss.

Izzy is placed with a family that she doesn't know and only seems to have a few friends. The faction was told that her parents died and hid her from society. Waking up everyday and lying to those around her, she realizes she can't stay in Erudite any longer.

Realizing the choosing ceremony was coming up she takes the aptitude tests and finds shocking but not so shocking results. Realizing she's the one thing Jeanine despises, Izzy decides to join Dauntless which she had always admired. Despite being told to stay in her home faction Izzy decides to leave.

Being in dauntless was one thing, but having the leader work you to your breaking point is another. He was hard on her more because she had shown potential. It was like everything came easily to Izzy. It's like she had already learned how to do it. Izzy was calculated and smart and knew just how to manipulate the system in order to hide herself. Although she knew of dauntless's secret friendship with Erudite, she felt she was safer in dauntless.

With those in her faction teaching her to be safe, what does she do when the man who wants her kind dead starts to want her.
