Together they would find the answer to the question Tanner has been asking for years, they would figure out what happened to Tanner's mother and how Maia is involved, though the two cannot seem to get along.

People, referring to normal society, usually fear the unknown, but in this case two teenagers are forcibly drawn into the unknown without any option to object against it. When you throw a psychotic sociopath, that prefers to hide behind life-threatening notes and an anonymous alias into the mix, a recipe for disaster seems inevitable.
