This is a simple short story (about 1500 words). I have been in the outlining stage for my novel the past few months, and I needed to brush the dust off my writing skills and did a character exploration exercise. *This piece is just writing practice and will not be part of the actual book.* This story features my main character, Evie, going about her business, but I'm excited for you to meet her nonetheless. Hang out with us while Evie makes coffee and paints.
Like I said, I am trying to refine my writing skills so please leave constructive feedback. This probably needs one more draft before I call it complete so tell me what you honestly like and don't like. Also, I have always used past tense when writing, but I want to use present tense in this novel, so please let me know if I accidentally left something is in the wrong tense during editing.

When Evie was 5 her mom left her and her dad. When her dad couldn't handle his wife leaving him he picks up everything and leaves their hometown. Evie's best friend Lucas comes with her making him her only friend through out her whole life. Well now she's back Years later finishing her last year as a senior. Little does she know her life's going to change once more when she meets the new alpha Asper king and adding to the confusion her mother comes back to share unwanted secrets. . . . --- I feel a warm finger slip through one of my back belt loops as someone's hot breath blew on the crook of my neck. My Life As A Proxy (Discontinued)
My first "piece" technically. I find it hard to write fiction so I am trying to do something fictional but also basic for my first piece on this app, so I can get used to it. I will of course add in some kind of romance or drama so that it is actually slightly enjoyable to read. This will hopefully not just mainly be a book of fresh Lemon Juice, there will be some LJ but I want to give it a small plot and have it make some sense instead of a book of oneshots Anyhoo, enough about me, on to the story! "WHY CAN'T YOU GET IT INSIDE YOUR HEAD?" He trapped my trembling body between his arms and slammed his fist into the wall. I flinch at the sound as I feel tears forming in my eyes. "I'M SICK AND TIRED OF YOUR CRYING. JUST ACCEPT THE FACT THAT YOU'RE NEVER LEAVING. THIS IS YOUR LIFE NOW, WITH ME" He spits, anger consuming his voice as I push myself further against the wall. Shutting my eyes closed and turning my face to the side as I do. Moments later, I feel his rough hand on my waist and his finger grazing my cheek. "Look at me, love." His hand grips onto my jaw, his thumb playing across my lower lip. He turns my face to meet his as I lower my gaze to the floor. He lowers himself to my level and I feel his breath fanning my cheek causing my breathing to become unsteady. "I love you so much, darling. But you need to learn. You need to learn that you won't be going anywhere. You're mine." With that being said, his other hand slides down to my waist "Your entire body, your mind, your soul. All mine." Cursed as much as blessed with empathy, Ava Monroe can't help herself when someone needs help, physically or mentally. For some reason unknown to me, I started shaking. It was so strong. I felt something I'd never felt before. All my life, I believed I was the only force that could put me in whatever position I wanted. Coupled with the fact that I was on drugs and I was still recovering, I felt my head spin around the room. Then, I fell on the ground. I felt a weight leaving my body. However, it was taking time to leave, so I stayed in that position and let myself sleep under that force that took me to the ground. "Whatever this view is, it's beautiful." I saw a big painting before me. It was bright and precious, and I smiled. The small boy that I was reached out to touch the colors spread out on it, but I couldn't reach. "Do you want it?" A masculine voice asked. Before he could finish, I nodded my head in excitement. "Here you go." "How much is it, please?" "It's free. It's yours. You can hang it on your bedroom wall and stare at it whenever you want." "Why won't you let me pay?" "Because it's so costly. You can't buy it. Even if your mum were here, she wouldn't afford to get it for you." "That's so bad," I looked down. "If I take this home, everyone will think I stole it. I have to buy it." "If they think so, tell them you got it here." I sighed. And I looked at it again. "Thank you." I turned to leave. "I'm Ethan. Can I know your name?" When I turned, he was out of sight. "Hello?"
