When Gabriel found Nova, and watched him for two weeks, he had a plan for the teen that he was already setting in motion. He could practically taste the potential oozing out of the kid, all he had to do was shape him up, teach him the rules, and give him tools he needed. He wasn't planning on dealing with a lifelong abuse victim, and he certainly wasn't expecting the amount of mental messes the kid made.
