Three years after her famous match with Borgov, Beth Harmon shocks the chess world by taking a break to start college. Enter Harry Beltik, who is surprisingly good at physics and kind enough to let Beth stay in his apartment. When Beth finds out that Harry is going through a breakup, she decides that he needs a chess tutor to help him regain some confidence.

On the surface, it's a perfect arrangement. But too much and too little has changed since their first fling, and anything more than friendship is completely off the table- for now.
