My entire body is sore from cuts and the rash caused by the ropes wrapped around me, keeping me trapped in the chair.
 I hear foot steps approach before a hand grasps the black bag over my head. I look down, not wanting to look my captor in the eyes. However, out of curiosity my gaze scans his frame. As soon as my eyes reach his collar bone I see the design I have come so familiar with.  Half a butterfly wing and half a demon wing scorched into the brown leather of his jacket. 
He told me I could trust him.
Immediately my eyes snap to his, emerald green. A color I found so comforting yesterday now sends a chill down my spine.

So why do they get more tattoos? What are they trying to do? Externalize? Internalize? Keep themselves safe from demons the rest of us can't see? Are they just crazy or do they know something the rest of us don't? The oldest known tattoos date back 5000 years to a male found frozen in the Alps in 1991. He was very, very dead. The latest tattoo in human history is the one that is about to be drilled into the stretched out skin on my back. And me? I'm as good as dead anyway... The needle pierces my skin at 3000 jabs a minute. What's that per second? 50 times? My math's not bad. How likely am I now to take drugs, sexually abuse and engage in suicidal anti-social behavior? I couldn't stop trembling even more now. I calmed down a little more and checked my arm again. I was correct, I wasn't hallucinating. On my shoulder was a tattoo. It was a character of some sort-- in a different language. It looked like it was Chinese mixed with Islamic calligraphy. The skin around my arm was red and irritated. The symbol stuck out like a vein. I hyperventilated. I thought I was going to have a panic attack. I had to sit there, on my bed, and command myself to calm down. "I'm dreaming. I'm dreaming. This isn't real," I whispered. I checked the mirror again and searched all over my body to see if I had any other markings, but so far this was the only one. I shut my eyes, trying to force myself to wake up, but this was real. And for the first time, out of all the panicking, my vision went black.
