The Untamed
They all stilled in their place, staring at the green field. On the edge, only about a yard away from the start of the bleachers, was the source of the laughter. Oh, that sweet meoldic laughter that had faded into away this summer. The male who honed such a sound, was dressed in what seemed to only be black and red. His back was turned to them, but they all could clearly see the smile that would sync with his laughter. The man bent down, lifting up a smaller body, which shrieked with giggles. A child. This boy was holding a young child in his hands. Lan Zhan's felt his breathing hitch as the man's face was now in their view. It was him. Wei WuXian.

In a quiet town in 1990s China, where school uniforms are pressed crisp and secrets are folded even tighter, Lan Wangji transfers to a government high school with one mission: keep his head down and make his family proud. With an elder brother who can do no wrong and an uncle watching his every move, Wangji has no room for mistakes-especially not the kind that live in his chest when a boy named Wei Wuxian smiles like trouble at the school gate. Wuxian is everything Wangji isn't: loud, rebellious, always late and laughing. They shouldn't get along. But a forgotten handkerchief, a shared umbrella, and whispered calls from a midnight payphone begin to stitch something fragile and beautiful between them.
