"Arisa?"
Uh oh.
I headed to the living room. Scared. Genuinely scared; Scared for what I was about to hear.
"Yes?" I asked.
"We have great news! You have a suitor!" My mom said smiling.
"A what?" I said confused.
"Oh come on. Someone wants to marry you. He's been waiting for three years until you became grown and now he's waited enough and is interested in you now." My dad said rubbing my shoulder. "It will be okay. He is my friends brother and I know him personally."
My dad was almost 50. Any friend of his would be around his age.
My heart stopped for a few seconds out of shock.
"What?" This time, I said it out loud.
"Aren't you excited?" My mom said realizing my face expression.
I shook my head.
I'm not ready for this. It's my life, not hers, but of course, she won't listen.
No, that's a lie.
...it is her choice...her life...her decision.
"He's a good guy Arisa! This is what your father and I want for you. You are doing this! Remember your place."
"NO! it's my life, you're not doing this to me!"
