"Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I'm wise, so I'm changing myself."
Ever since reading the Rumi quote, Eve Summers, a twenty-one year old, has followed one rule; trust no one. Scarred by her past, she wants nothing to do with music or people. Her idea is simple; keep a low profile and complete the last two years of university. When the girl who absconds the spotlight, and music, finds herself as the lead singer of the only music band in college, everything turns upside down.
With the ever-so-sweet Noah Wilson as the band director and her mentor, she realizes that the cynic in her is dying. His easy smiles and philosophical words clash with her grumpy resting bitch face. Thus ensues an endless battle; a clash of opinions she didn't expect to enjoy. When this battle leads her to a trip down the memory lane unleashing her caged feelings, she must choose between her heart's desire and her mind's caution.
She must choose quick because the future of the people closest to her and her college's reputation are at stake. The stakes are high but the walls surrounding her heart are higher. Her strength will be tested as she learns to find her voice in this world, a place that's unkind to people like her, people who are a mixed race.

Carter slowly walked towards me, butterflies swarming in my stomach, filling every inch of me.
"Assi." he grabbed my wrists, and made me look at him. "Who was that song about?"
"You know who."
"Was it... about me?"
"What would you say if it was?" I cocked my head to the side, our eyes staying connected with each other.
"I wouldn't say." he moved closer to me, towering over by the slightest bit as his breath surrounded my every nerve.
He leant down, took a sharp breath and connected our lips.

Astrid was a beautiful girl, who had lost her sense of who she was and where she belonged. She went through something traumatic at only 14, but no one noticed. She moved to Roseville for a fresh start with her best friend Kaitlyn by her side.
But Carter notices. He was a "bad boy" with a heart of gold (ik it's cliché) . He never let anything slip by him. He doesn't say anything as their personalities clash and they hate each other.
You know what they say, there is a thin line between love and hate.
Will these two step over the line?
But sometimes, running away from your problems doesn't go down unnoticed. The very person Astrid ran away from is after her, and this time, the consequences will be worse.

This is an enemies-friends-lovers book and they become friends early on because I find it difficult to write going from enemies to lovers so yeah.
