Whispers. All that Tareos could hear was the swish of the air, the breathy words, the suspense escalating with every breathey pitch. As the pitches filled the room Tareos found it difficult to breathe and his heart rate began to increase dramatically.
"Firstly..." Devonworth clears his throat,"... the son of Katerina Astrea and Llyr Godwine, Tutankhamun Ahura Astrea." The whispers crescendoed, their previous piano turning into a stern mezzo piano, the melody of voices and questions struggling to sustain themselves.
"Secondly, the daughter of Ju Won Victorina and Celestinus Victorina, Ophelia Ching Shih Victorina" Somehow the whispers crescendoed even more, increasing to a ferocious forte with every voice part harmonizing upon the words 'Big Three', all increasing their pitch up a half step, clashing with each other, suspending, waiting for their resolution.
"And finally..." Tareos takes a deep breath, full of apprehension as the moment he had been waiting for all day was about to arrive. He quickly finishes his sentence.
"And finally the daughter of Honestas Olvidar and Vulcan Fideles, Ozwin Olympia Olvidar." As he speaks he locks eyes with Heremides in the back of the room who was smiling brightly in his direction. The choir did seem to fall out, an intense silence filling the room as the two friends exchange smiles and knowing glances. This song had ended.
	But another one always begins.
Only about two seconds after he finished speaking the choir returned at full force, the next movement of this never-ending major work beginning where the last one left off, the sharp fortissimo invaded his eardrums, all voice parts asking in harmony if these children were as wicked as their parents. The only thing that Tareos could say in response was that he hoped they wouldn't be.
His voice, however, got buried by the sound.

In the twilight hours, where shadows mingled with the ethereal whispers of the wind, a tale unfurled, woven with threads of destiny that intertwined the fates of two souls in a dance as old as time itself. Talia La'Nae, shrouded in mystery and veiled in secrecy, bore within her the blood of fae and ancient dragons, a lineage that set her apart in the shifting world she navigated. At the age of thirty-one, burdened by the weight of her dual heritage, she roamed the city's dark alleys as a detective, concealing her true nature behind a facade of normalcy, for laws forbade the mingling of divergent shifter races. In the heart of the realm stood Damion Shard, a Lord of revered lineage, the last of his kind-or so he believed. The flames of ancient power flickered within his eyes, a quiet authority woven into his very being as he ruled over his clan with a solemn grace. At thirty-three, the burden of solitude pressed upon him, a weight that grew heavier with each passing day, threading through the tapestry of his existence like a shadow cast by the sun. It was amidst a backdrop of enigmatic disappearances and brutal murders that their paths inevitably converged. Talia, fueled by an unyielding thirst for justice, delved deeper into the labyrinthine alleys of the city, her senses keen to the faintest whispers of danger that lurked in the shadows. Her quest for truth led her to Damion, a figure of majesty and mystery, his presence a portentous storm gathering on the horizon of her fate. As fate spun its intricate design, a primal force awakened, binding them together in a way that defied reason and logic. The tantalizing scent of dragonsong lingered in the air like a silent vow, drawing Talia closer to Damion with an irresistible allure that ignited a flame within her heart. Yet, the whispers of her fae blood, ancient and wise, foretold a tempest brewing on the horizon, the looming specter of rejection and death that threatened their forbidden union.

They said the Hunt was sacred. That if I was chosen, it meant fate. But fate didn't feel like a mouth on my skin or claws at my back. It felt like blood. Mine. For years, I stayed hidden. Quiet. Unclaimed. I stole seeds from the state fields, grew food in secret, fed my family from soil and silence. I did everything right - stayed beneath their radar, beneath their noses. I didn't make waves. I didn't ask for more. But monsters never forget a scent. And when the Hunt came, I was scented. Tracked. Taken. I stabbed him. I buried the blade in his shoulder and watched him bleed. It didn't matter. Because he still bit me. And the world saw. Now my face is on every screen. The girl who didn't run. The girl who fought back. Some call me a rebel. Some call me a mate. But they all forget one thing. I wasn't made to be claimed. I was made to survive. And if they want to collar me, cage me, crown me - they'll have to reckon with everything I've kept buried beneath the roots. Because I am not the flower. I'm the fire beneath it.
