The Element (TUA story)
On the first day of October 1989, forty-three women around the world simultaneously gave birth. None of the women showed any prior signs of pregnancy. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, made it his personal mission to find and adopt as many of these children as possible. He got eight of them with that one set of twins that maybe came from the same mother but in appearance, they were as different as anyone could be. Number Four and Number Eight...often used as the main subjects of experiments when it came to power. Sir Hargreeves' main focus was however on the young Number Eight which eventually led to the girl disappearing in the storm of her own powers. But what if she somehow comes back after the death of her father? What if she gets reunited with her twin and what if the boy she thought she lost and who she used to have a crush on came back as well with the news of the nearing Apocalypse? The planet was saved by a scientist who created a cure for Covid-19. All of a sudden, a new virus appears, turning everyone that has a healthy life into mutant animals. Those human-turned predators will have no memory of their human life and will now only live by nature's rules. Those who didn't get infected were either already sick, had a disease, or had a disorder. Those people were then experimented to find a cure but the human population decreased rapidly. On April 1st 2019, the world ended. Icarus had indeed flown too close to the sun when Five Hargreeves pushed the limits of his power. The boy desperately yearned to use his powers to time travel and when he succeeded, he found himself trapped in the future apocalypse. Octavia Maddenfield had spent her whole life hiding her ability to shield and protect, only for it to save her when an asteroid collided into the earth, effectively wiping out all of humanity. The two teenagers are ecstatic to find that they are no longer alone in the apocalypse, however they must learn to navigate their newfound dynamic as Five tries to time travel back to the past and stop the end of the world from ever happening. Octavia is intrigued by the boy's sarcastic demeanour but also incredibly frustrated by his secretive nature, especially towards his past. And Five despises how easy Octavia can make him vulnerable, he tells himself that he cannot become invested in their obvious connection but something about her is so undeniably captivating.
