Esta é a história de Henry Chinaski, o protagonista deste romance que é sem dúvida uma das obras mais comoventes e mais lidas de Charles Bukowski (1920-1994).
Verdadeiro romance de formação com toques autobiográficos, Misto-quente (publicado originalmente em 1982) cativa o leitor pela sinceridade e aparente simplicidade com que a história é contada. Estão presentes a ânsia pela dignidade, a busca vã pela verdade e pela liberdade, trabalhadas de tal forma que fazem deste livro um dos melhores romances norte-americanos da segunda metade do século 20. Apesar de ser o quarto romance dos seis que o autor escreveu e de ter sido lançado quando ele já contava mais de sessenta anos, Misto-quente ilumina toda a obra de Bukowski. Pode-se dizer: quem não leu Misto-quente, não leu Bukowski.

However, what he lived with her caused him to bring out what he hated the most about himself from within. -Forget it love- said a woman who was next to her- it's not worth it- this dog was supposed to be her friend, she was supposed to support her just like she did; however he managed so that he and she hated each other and thus be able to steal it. The woman on the floor does not know how much she was framed and harmed by her naivety, nor did she know that this was the beginning of her misfortunes. Because of that woman she did not stop suffering, wherever she went she suffered verbal or physical abuse and everything was orchestrated by this woman; she didn't know until she was about to faint. "Why?" She asked this unarmed woman without knowing why she hated him so much. She never did anything to hurt him. She just laughed viciously without answering him, she didn't have to waste her time with an insect; leaving La to die imprisoned in the house where she was kidnapped. "Answer me!" She got up from her bed screaming "Eh? This looks like my room; Did I reincarnate myself in the past?" She ran to the bathroom just to see that her assumption was correct. Wherever The Grass Grows Greener
It's 1982 and Walter Monroe is a boy who lives two lives simultaneously, but he has not consented to his situation in any way and is no more alert to what is happening to him than fiction is alert to the reality that it never actually took place. There's no telling how long this phenomenon has been going on for - only that as of October 4th, it most certainly is in effect. He is the same age, of the same disposition, and carries an identical internal moral compass in both of his lives. I want to go out of my way to mention that the world is unchanged across the two lives and that nobody local to the setting of the story will be mentioned from one life crossed over to the other, so you'll never see the same character in any more than a single of his dual lives apart from our hero. Whether or not the circumstances of Walter's existence over the span of the two weeks that this novel covers signify something inspiring, something nihilistic, or merely serve as a meaningless plot device is left to the discretion of the reader. Neither of Walter's lives contain any exceptional qualities if the reader is to take on an American paradigm and it should be understood that the narrative I have constructed derives from a godless plane of existence where nothing undeservedly positive comes to anyone: not even the protagonists of epic tales. To summarize: simply enjoy, or else everything goes to waste.Complete

But instead, my life turned out to be the opposite of normal. And so it was for Chiara, Blake, Jake, Rowan, Nova, and Dijon. To tell our story, we need to go all the way back to the beginning. Before we were even born. It all started 30 years ago. April 5, 2003. a class got into an accident and when the survivors woke up, they realized something was wrong. they got powers , they got taken by scientist who started calling them the hollows. It took almost a month before they were rescued by Mr. Knight, they got taken to a secret place where they could live peacefully. that's a lie, one of the students wanted revenge and not stay hidden, so the group seperated. Every year another person got powers, and so, the search continued. But there was always one question on mr. Knight mind: Why 12 children the first time, and only one per year after that? And one thing was for sure: whenever someone gained powers, they had to give something up in return. It was never a choice. It was just the way it was. So, now that I've explained a bit about how this all started, let's fast forward to the present. It's now 2033. Mr. Knight has found 19 children, and Mr. Douglas, the leader of the other group, has found 10. That means... the 30th child is out there somewhere. Who will it be?
