As much as it sounds weird/upsetting it was death that brought Ripley and Alex together.

She looked at Alex pleadingly, she needed to know that he was being looked after.
“who?” he asked confused
“Ben and your brother” she motioned towards her friend’s grave and then the grave they were standing in front of.
Alex didn’t know how to answer. He saw how upset the girl was, he knew if he told her what he thought they would both be a bit happier,
“you know what?” he smiled softly at her “it was probably them making us meet today, so yeah I think they are friends"
